Red Hat Enterprise MRG

Red Hat Enterprise MRG Supported Hardware and Platforms

Red Hat Enterprise MRG is highly optimized to run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 and later due to its inclusion of a MRG Realtime. Red Hat Enterprise MRG's messaging and grid capabilities can also run on other platforms, but without the full benefits of running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.1 and later.

The following table summarizes Red Hat Enterprise MRG's supported hardware architectures and platforms across its various components:

MRG Messaging

MRG Messaging consists of:

  • A messaging broker
  • Messaging clients

The messaging broker is optimized to perform best on RHEL 5.1, and will also be optimized for MRG Realtime. The messaging broker is also supported for standard RHEL 4 and RHEL 5.

The messaging clients come in multiple native-language implementations are supported on various platforms as listed in the previous supported architectures and platforms matrix.

MRG Realtime

MRG Realtime does not require specialized, custom hardware. Rather, its objective is to run on the high-volume systems provided by the main hardware vendors. The set of supported systems is determined by business demand. The requirements for supported hardware are:

  • The hardware must pass the standard Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 certification tests.
  • Red Hat has representative systems incorporated into our internal regression and development hardware matrix.
  • The respective provider must be a joint participant in our realtime testing activities. This assures the customer of robust prior joint testing and support service.

Supported architectures:

  • x86
  • x86-64

Red Hat Enterprise MRG's realtime kernel will be supported on a subset of Red Hat Enterprise Linux's certified hardware. For a list of certified hardware for Red Hat Enterprise MRG Realtime see the Red Hat Hardware Catalog.

MRG Grid

MRG Grid consists of:

  • A scheduler
  • Execution platforms

The grid scheduler is optimized to perform best on RHEL 5.1, and will also be optimized for MRG Realtime. The grid scheduler is also supported for to run on standard RHEL 4 and RHEL 5.

MRG Grid can execute workloads on a variety of platforms as listed in the previous supported architectures and platforms matrix.
